查伯是比利時聖戰組織「Sharia4Belgium」核心成員，也是該團體首腦貝爾卡策姆（Fouad Belkacem）的保鑣兼左右手。貝爾卡策姆2012年被捕，去年遭判刑12年。查伯原居比利時安特衛普，2013年3月跑到敘利亞北部大城拉卡加入IS。這個冷血屠夫過去曾拍攝過許多IS影片，親自操刀斬首或將囚犯截肢，近來逐漸躍為IS重要頭目。
